ALTA, Iowa -- Marian Genevieve Coury, 85, of Alta, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at a Fort Dodge, Iowa, hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, with the Rev. Lilette Johnston officiating. Private family graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.

Mrs. Coury was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Albert City, Iowa, the daughter of Nels Gustav and Jennie (Johnson) Benna. She grew up and attended school in Albert City.

She married Fred Charles Coury on May 19, 1962, in South Sioux City. She worked in several offices in Storm Lake, Iowa, and Des Moines. She was employed with Younkers and Younker Davidson's, and was a 20-year club member of Younkers. Mr. Coury died April 22, 2002.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, Alta Country Club and Morningside Country Club in Sioux City.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Alma M. Coury of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Eli Coury of Omaha; a niece and her husband, Phyllis and Bob Ferguson of Ames, Iowa, and their family; and a nephew and his wife, Ron and Yvonne Wenell of Laurens, Iowa, and their family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
