SIOUX CITY | Brent T. Goetz, 60, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, from a heart condition at his home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Brent Thomas Goetz, the son of Paul and Margaret "Mickey" (Sinnott) Goetz, was born on Aug. 9, 1956, in Omaha. His childhood years were spent in Sioux City, where he graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Heelan High School in 1975 as class president. He then attended the University of Iowa for one year and transferred to Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, to join the seminary program, where he received his BA degree. Brent continued his education at the American Gregorian College in Vatican City, where he received his master's degree.

He moved to Spencer in 1986, where he owned and operated Perkins Office Solutions for many years. For the last year, he has enjoyed his second family at the South Park Mall, where he worked as a night security officer/maintenance employee.

Brent was active with the Kiwanis, having served as lieutenant governor of Kiwanis Division Three, and was past president of the Hy-Noon Kiwanis in Spencer. During his time as a Kiwanian, he spearheaded projects for the Disc Golf Course in Spencer and the one-room school house. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Brent was honored to meet Saint Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II. Brent was known for his kind, gentle soul and would do anything for anyone, if they needed it. He was especially loyal to helping his mother in the final years of her life. He also had a love for travel.

Those left to cherish his memory are seven siblings, Brad (Pam) Goetz of Springfield, Ill., Paula Goetz (Tom Cooper II) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kevin (Sheila) Goetz of Thornton, Colo., Kent Goetz of San Jose, Calif., Theresa (Tim) Goertz of Hornick, Iowa, Kurt Goetz of Lincoln, Neb., and Kenny Goetz (Terry Thompson) of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight nieces and nephews; four grandnieces and grandnephews; other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Brian and Keith Goetz.
