SIOUX CITY | Randy R. Murkins, 62, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. The family asks that those attending the service be in casual dress.

Randy was born on May 1, 1954, in Sioux City, the son of Milton and June (Lupke) Murkins. He graduated from East High School in 1972.

Randy married Mary Gerch on June 12, 1976, in Sioux City. For part of his life, Randy worked for the State of Iowa. He also owned the Highlander Laundromat and owned a small lawn care and snow removal company.

Randy enjoyed riding his Harley. He was a fan of antique cars. He liked going to car shows and traveling to car auctions with his boys. He loved watching his sons plays sports and spending time with friends and family. Currently, his grandchildren were the most important in his life.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Jason (Kelly) Murkins of Bellevue, Neb., and Casey (Tara Gigaroa) of Sioux City; brothers, Terry (Barb) Murkins of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Keith (Linda) Murkins of Sioux City, and Derek (Kelly) Murkins of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; grandchildren, Makenzie and Gavin Murkins; and mother-in-law, Margaret Gerch.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Layton Gerch; and brother-in-law, Terry Gerch.
