SIOUX CITY | Betty J. Lang, 88, of Sioux City, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with Chaplain Mark Westrich officiating. No visitation is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Betty Jean, the daughter of Omar A. and Mabel (Riley) Holbrook, was born on Feb. 12, 1928, in Sioux City. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School. After high school, she attended business school for two years.

On Aug. 6, 1948, Betty married Charles Thomas Lang in Sioux City. To this union three daughters were born, Linda, Terry and Mary. The family made their home in Sioux City and Betty worked as a secretary at Sioux City Stockyards for many years. She then worked at S.S. Coe Sign Company and later as a caregiver at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Charles passed away on Jan. 26, 2006. In recent years, Betty made her home at Holy Spirit.

Betty's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She was a member of the Stockettes and Eastern Star.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Terry Bue and husband, Ron of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Mary Mech of New Prague, Minn.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; one daughter, Linda Lee Watt; one brother; and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Betty.
