Joseph F. Scharles, 75, 1716 Nebraska Street, died at his home Monday after a long illness. He had been a resident here 30 years.

Mr. Scharles, a tailor by profession, was mayor of LeMars from 1907 to 1913. He was born in Germany September 4, 1872, and came to this country when a young man. He was a member of the Cathedral parish.

Survivors are the widow Sarah M., a daughter, Mrs. Floyd O. Kyte of McAllen, Texas and a son, E.D. Scharles of Sioux City.

The Larkin Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
