Terry was born on Feb. 25, 1965, the son of Walter L. and Malva M. (Anderson) Trobaugh. Terry grew up on a farm near Westfield, Iowa and attended elementary school in Westfield. The family moved to Sioux City in the mid 1970s and Terry graduated from East High School in 1983. He completed the carpentry program at Western Iowa Tech Community College in 1985. He later became a journeyman electrician, heavy equipment operator and over the road truck driver.

His first job was delivering The Sioux City Journal in the Morningside area, which he did for years in his youth. He worked building custom cabinetry in Texas before returning to the Sioux City area. He worked as an electrician for Iowa Public Service and had been an over the road truck driver and heavy equipment operator for the past several years.

Terry enjoyed fishing and boating but didn't get to do it nearly often enough. He was a gifted woodworking craftsman who created many beautiful pieces, which he loved to give away. Terry "Bear" was known for his generosity and kind heart.

Survivors include his sister, Tanya Trobaugh of Denver, Colo.; a nephew, Benjamin Britton and his wife, Sarah (Hansen) of Aurora, Colo.; and a niece, Alexandra Sherrill of Denver. Terry is also survived by his special friend, Sandy Whitlock and her two sons.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents.
