Wife of S.C. Policeman Is Taken By Death

For 20 years a resident of Sioux City, Mrs. Marie Barrett, wife of P.D. Barrett, policeman, died at St. Vincent’s Hospital Tuesday night, following a lingering illness.

Mrs. Barrett was born at Ponca, Nebraska, August 1, 1883. She was reared near Ponca and on October 10, 1906, was married to Mr. Barrett, then a Sioux City railroad man at South Creek Church.

With her husband, Mrs. Barrett came to Sioux City, where they had lived since. Besides her widower, who has been an officer 12 years, she is survived by six sons and two daughters, all at home at 609 George Street. They are: Leo, Patrick, Jr., Arthur, Emmett, Eugene, Marie and Evelyn, and an infant son recently born at St. Vincents Hospital.

Mrs. Barrett’s father, Michael Mullally, lives in Sioux City as dose one of her sisters, Miss Elizabeth Mullally. Three other sisters and three brothers are Mrs. Rose Scollard, Danbury, Minn., Mrs. Julia Long, Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Minnie Thompson, Powell, Wyo., Michael Mullally, Omaha, Nebraska; Thomas of Fremont, Nebr. and Edward of Escondido, Cal.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barrett, who was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and St. Monica guild, have not been arranged. The body is at the home. The Larkin Funeral home will be in charge of the service.
