SIOUX CITY | Dale C. Davis, 83, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at a local hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Cronin officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. No visitation is planned. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City is in charge of arrangements.

Dale, the son of William D. and Myrtle (Bedford) Davis, was born Friday, Dec. 23, 1932, in Omaha, Neb. He grew up in Omaha and graduated with honors from Benson High School. Following high school, he attended college at Omaha University from 1951 to 1952, University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1952, then Creighton University in 1954 and 1956.

Dale worked at Sisters of St. Francis from 1952 until 1965. He then worked at Omaha Testing Laboratories where he was a part owner until 1979. Dale worked as an engineer for Brower Construction Company in Sioux City until his retirement in 2003.

Dale had been an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City and had been a member of the 31 Club. In earlier years, he was the founder and president of Omaha Divine Society. Dale had been a member of the United States Air Force Reserves.

Dale enjoyed doing crosswords, puzzles and playing bingo. He also enjoyed traveling and his last trip was to Loveland, Colo., to visit his brother, Bill. Dale especially loved his kitties.

Dale is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and special friends, Stan and Jackie Certain of Sioux City, and Doug and Linda Carter of Dakota Dunes, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters and one brother, Nadine Core, Betty Chambers, Donna Hesse, Peg Haycraft and Bill B. Davis.
