Former Sioux Cityan Dies

Funeral of George Micka to be Held Here on Monday Morning

Cedar Rapids, Iowa—June 25— George J. Micka, 70, a former Sioux Cityan, died Saturday evening at 7:30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Chandler, 1014 Second Avenue, after an illness of more than four years.

The body will be taken to Sioux City Sunday night and will be buried there by the side of Mr. Micka’s wife, who died last September.

Mr. Micka was born at Platteville, Wis., on September 22, 1856. For more than 22 years he conducted a drygoods business at Carroll. He moved from Carroll to Sioux City, where he lived a number of years. He was a traveling man for a number of years, until his health failed. He came here from Mason City two years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Chandler, a son, L. J. Micka, of Mason City and one brother, Joseph Micka, of Pottsville, Pa.

A daughter, Mrs. George Jameson, died in Dubuque, Iowa, a few weeks ago.

Sioux City friends have received word that the body of George Micka will arrive here Monday morning at 8:15. Funeral services will be held at the Epiphany cathedral, probably at 9 a.m. and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. John Chandler, a daughter, will accompany the body to Sioux City.
