Death Calls Mrs. C. Wales

She Was Wife of Pioneer Business Man Here

Mrs. C.C. (Jennie) Evans Wales, 85, wife of a pioneer Sioux City business man, died Tuesday morning in her home, 917 Eighth Street, following an illness of a week. She came here 60 years ago and had resided at the same address for 60 years.

She was born in Spring Green, Wisconsin, July 17, 1859. Her husband was identified with the meat packing industry here, banking and stock-yards activities. At one time he was city assessor.

Mrs. Wales was a member of the Unitarian Church, the Girls of 68, Rose Croix Chapter, O.E.S., Bryant Reading Club and the Sioux City Women’s Club. Her hobby was painting and in her home was a collection of oil paintings. Her husband died in 1917 and since that time she had traveled extensively.

Surviving are a son, Victor C. Wales of Culver City, California; a daughter, Mrs. George Ruth Gribble of Boulder, Colo., a brother, Isaac Evans of St. James, Minn., seven grand children; four great-grandchildren and two nieces, Mrs. L.R. Marsh and Mrs. Donald Rowe, both of Sioux City.

The body is at the Nelson-Berger Funeral Home.
