SIOUX CITY | Patricia "Patty" Gaul, 54, of Sioux City passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Patricia Jean, the daughter of Larry and Kathy (Becker) Lauer, was born on July 15, 1962, in Yankton, S.D. She grew up at Hartington, Neb., until the age of 10, and then in Sioux City where she graduated from Heelan High School in 1980. Patty then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College for two years.

On Sept. 19, 1987, Patty was united in marriage with Randy Gaul at Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. Three children were born to this union. Patty and Randy made their home in Sioux City. Patty worked at Merry Maids and Gateway before doing babysitting and staying at home with her kids.

Patty enjoyed collecting snowmen and other Christmas decorations, reading, doing word searches, and having her nails done. She liked socializing with her family and loved her children very much.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Gaul of Sioux City; two children, Sarah and Christopher; siblings, Ann (Marcus) Sullivan, Steve (Kathy) Lauer, and Sandy Trobaugh; her parents, Larry and Kathy Lauer of Hartington; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; a son, Matthew; and her brother, Michael.
