Foy Jones Nicholas 1887 - 1919

Foy Jones was born at Holly Springs, Iowa, October 18, 1887, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa, Jan. 25, 1919 aged 31 years, 3 months and 7 days.

She graduated from the Hornick High school with the class of 1906. On Dec. 9, 1908 she was married to Marvin Nicholas. Since that time they have resided on his father’s farm three miles from Holly Springs.

To this union was born one child – Opal Emma, now nine years of age.

Mrs. Nicholas had not been in good health for a long time, for more than a year her health was unusually poor. She took pneumonia, and was immediately taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, January 24 and went away on Saturday, January 25, at 4:50 p.m.

She leaves to mourn, her husband and little daughter, her father T. E. Jones, three sisters – Mrs. Nettie Hall, Miss Ruby Jones of Hornick, Mrs. Minnie Colburn of Pueblo, Col., one brother – Jay Jones of Hornick, and one aunt – Mrs. S. C. Colburn of San Juan, Texas; also a multitude of neighbors and friends who will sorely miss her, and mourn her departure.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist church Tuesday, Jan. 28, and the burial in the Holly Springs cemetery, conducted by Revs. Hutchinson and Snyder.

The pall bearers were composed of ladies who were former schoolmates of Mrs. Nicholas.
