SIOUX CITY | Garland J. Treloar, 65, of Sioux City passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.

A time of sharing with the family will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Garland was born on Jan. 10, 1951, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the son of Garland A. "Bud" and Pharilda Matilda (Van Walleghen) Treloar. The family moved to Elk Point, S.D., in 1957, where he attended school and graduated from Elk Point High School with the class of 1969.

Mr. Treloar was employed with the city of Sioux City with the Parks Department as a crew leader. He retired from the city in 2008 because of health conditions.

During his employment with the city, he served as local union president and vice president of the Local 212 Union. Garland also served on the Northwest Iowa Union Labor Counsel, The United Way and was a board member for Council 61 State of Iowa. Garland was a youth wrestling and football coach. He loved computers and did videotaping of many events.

Garland is survived by his wife, Vicky of Sioux City; three sons, Garland William Treloar and his wife, Alycen of Sioux City, Thomas Ingaman Treloar and his wife, Dawn of Hillsdale, Mich., and Michael David Treloar of Sioux City; two sisters, Shelia Kobs of Wright City, Mo., and Garnet Andersen and her husband, Chuck of Wausa, Neb.; and four grandchildren, Wade, Zane, Nicholas and Nora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Darryl Kobs.
