SIOUX CITY | Steven John Larkin, 59, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

Abiding by Steven's wishes, his body will be cremated and no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Steven was born June 19, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Leo and Lois (LeMoine) Larkin. He graduated from West High class of 1974. Steven served in the U.S. Navy from April 24, 1975, to Nov. 11, 1987, and from Nov. 10, 1988, to Sept. 18, 1989. Steven also worked for Iowa Workforce Development after serving in the military.

Steven enjoyed spending time with his children, fishing, camping, and especially cooking. He was very grateful for the opportunity to cook and serve his fellow veterans for the Shoes for Veterans program. Steven will be remembered for his big heart, amazing chef skills, big smile and his sense of humor where he got his nickname, "the Gaffer." No matter what trials or situations arose, Steven would always say, "This too shall pass."

Fair winds and following seas.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Ireyna Latorre; three children, Christopher (Ashley) Larkin of Bellevue, Neb., Caroline (Colby) White of Sioux City, and Corey Larkin (Samantha Close) of Sioux City; and three grandchildren, Tristen, Kayden, and Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an uncle, Ronald LeMoine.
