SIOUX CITY | Edward Bouldin Burke of Welches, Ore., formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2016, with family at his side.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John In The Woods Catholic Church in Welches.

Ed was born on March 30, 1936, to Raymond and Hope Burke. He grew up in Iowa, and graduated from Georgetown University. He then returned to Iowa to manage Hawkeye Building Supply in Sioux City, a family business. In 1967, he moved to Oregon to work at American International Forest Products as a lumber broker.

He married Mary Ann Pickering in 1970 and they moved to Welches. Living there was a gift to his family, as Ed drove the 40 miles to Portland, Ore., and back every day for more than 20 years. His children were able to enjoy the trees, mountains, skiing, and living in a small community.

In retirement, Ed enjoyed making the rounds to his sons' homes and job sites, coffee with his friends, and time at Deception Pass with his children. Even more, he enjoyed each new grandchild, especially the early years before they were able to run laps through the house.

Ed is survived by his wife; his siblings, Bill Burke, Tom Burke and Mary Bradley; his children, Chandler (Maria), Erin (Ed) Bell, Raymond, Jessica (Brian) McIntyre and Simon (Rachel); and 17 perfect grandchildren.
