O. Artin Riddle, 81, died Monday, March 9, 1987, in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Walters Funeral Home in Anthon with Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating.

Mr. Riddle was born July 30, 1905, in Morgan Twp., near Battle Creek, Iowa, to Oliver and Rosa Brunell Riddle. He moved with his family to a farm in Grant Township southwest of Anthon in 1910 and continued living there until 1979 when he moved to Sioux City. He graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1924 and from Reperts' Auction School in 1928. He married Mildred Oldaker on June 7, 1935, in Oto.

He was a member of the Anthon United Methodist Church. He served on the board of directors of the Woodbury County REC for many years and on the board of directors of the First Trust & Savings Bank in Anthon for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Woodbury County Farm Bureau and a charter member of the Northwest Iowa Farm Business Assn. since 1938.

Survivors include his wife, a son Owen and wife Janice of Anthon, a son Alvin and wife Yvonne of Des Moines, grandchildren T.J. Bitterly and Kari Sue Bitterly of LeMars, Bethany and Alison Riddle of Anthon. Also surviving are a brother, Gerald of Anthon, and a sister, Faye Henderson of Michigan. He was preceded by his parents, his daughter, Charmyne Bitterly of LeMars, two brothers and one sister.
