Funeral services for "Aunt" Mae GoBell, 79, of Anthon, longtime resident of Oto, who passed away Saturday, June 24, 1972, at the Correctionville Nursing Home after a long illness were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at the United Methodist Church in Anthon with Rev. Donald Harbour officiating. Burial was in Bethel-Piero Cemetery near Anthon under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Graveside rites were presented by the McKenna Unit 651, American Legion Auxiliary of Oto.

Mae, daughter of John Robert Weathers and Iona Squires Weathers, was born February 14, 1893, at Oto. She taught in rural schools for several years and boarded teachers in her home for many years. In 1945 she became manager of the Oto branch of the Climbing Hill Savings Bank, a position she held for many years. She married Floyd Jackson in 1913 in Oto. He died in 1927.

On July 14, 1962, she married Frank GoBell at Oto. She was a member of the United Church of Christ at Oto and served as church treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Oto Mite Society, the Oto Ladies Study Club, and a past member of the Oto Rebekah Lodge. She was also a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Oto. She was a member of Thonna Chapter 423, O.E.S., of Anthon, and the Anthon W.S.C.S. Survivors include her husband, a step-daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Naida) Koehler of Alta, one nephew, Oren Griffith of Lawton, and one niece, Mrs. Earl (Vava) Fitzpatrick of Sioux City, whom she raised, and other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband Floyd, one daughter, Floydeen, three brothers and one sister.
