Sept. 24, 1893-Jan.17, 1991

Edith E. Peacock, 97, Sioux City, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 1991, at Countryside Retirement Home, Sioux City, after a long illness. Services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Christy Morningside Funeral Home, Sioux City, Rev. David L. Nelson of Grace United Methodist Church, Sioux City, officiated.

Mrs. Peacock was born Sept. 24, 1893, at Churdan. She graduated from Simpson College, Indianola. She married Val R. Peacock Nov. 26, 1919, at Churdan. They moved to a farm north of Harris in 1920 and later moved south of town near May City until 1940 when they moved into Harris. Mr. Peacock died Feb. 8, 1950, in Spirit Lake. Mrs. Peacock moved to Sioux City in 1955.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Sioux City and was the oldest living member of Alpha Chi Omega National Sorority.

Survivors include one daughter, Lenore and her husband Lowell Ralston, Sioux City; one son, Gerald and his wife Pat Peacock, Homosassa, FL; five grandchildren, Thomas Peacock, Millersville, MD; Val Peacock, St. Louis, MO; Donna Davis, Delmar, MD; Marta Nelson, and Dana Ralston, both of Sioux City; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and two brothers.

Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Harris. Christy Morningside Funeral Home, Sioux City, was in charge of arrangements.
