SIOUX CITY | Roger Triggs, 86, of Vacaville, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away in a peaceful, beautiful sleep, on March 11, 2016.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home, 524 Elmira Rd., in Vacaville.

He was born in Sioux City to Wilfred "Bill" and Dorothy Triggs. He attended Sioux City schools and joined the U.S. Army, where he served both active and reserves for 10 years. He was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant. He was appointed to his career as a firefighter by the City of Sioux City in 1952. After 10 years, his career took him to California, where he retired as a captain, in 1974 after serving 22 years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martell; two children, Mark (Brenda) Triggs, and Brenda (Frank) Caporale; three grandchildren, Amanda (Bob) Greene, Lauren Triggs and Mark Triggs; one great-grandson, Brady Greene; his sisters, Carolyn (Don) Kessler, and Susan (Dale) Lisle of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Jackie (Bill) Triggs of Oregon; and many nephews, nieces and grandnieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Amaryllis Karras and Elizabeth Bruner; and his brother, Bill Triggs.

His family is grateful to the SCFD for the memorial wreaths displayed at the fire stations in his honor
