SIOUX CITY | Katherine L. "Kay" Erickson, 64, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. She will be cremated following services. Burial of her cremains will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with her body present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kay was born on Aug. 1, 1951, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Vernon and Darlene Payne. She was married to Vern Smith on May 21, 1988, in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2003, in Sioux City. She was later married to William Erickson in Washta, Iowa. Kay was a nurse's aide for Mercy Home Care.

She enjoyed doing bead work, camping and fishing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Kay is survived by her husband, William Erickson of Sioux City; mother, Darlene Sargent of Correctionville, Iowa; sister, Ardith Hoedpner of Des Moines, Iowa; and a brother, Dennis (Krista) Payne of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Donald Payne; and a sister, Alice Dobine.
