SIOUX CITY | Joyce E. Willemsen, 60, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, after a long illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Thomas Miller Mortuary and Crematory, 1118 E. Sixth St., in Corona, Calif. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.ThomasMillerMortuary.com.

Joyce was born on Feb. 6, 1956, in Sioux City, to John and Elaine Merchant. On June 5, 1976, Joyce was united in marriage to Ronald Willemsen in Sioux City. They had three children, Hiedi, Jennifer and Michael. In 1989, they moved to California and made their home there.

Joyce was a loving wife and mother, who touched the lives of many.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; her daughters, Hiedi and Jennifer; her son, Michael, his wife, Aimee, and the light of her life, grandson, Jacob. In addition, she is survived by her parents, John and Elaine Merchant; and sisters, Julie Lanzourakis and Paula Steig.

Joyce was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Anna Merchant; and her maternal grandparents, Richard "Red" and Ruby Hollinger.
