SIOUX CITY | David Watkins, 88, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, at his residence.

Per his wishes, the body will be cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Dave was born on May 15, 1927, in Maryville, Mo., and grew up in Kansas City, Mo. A veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Marine Corps.

He enjoyed success in the dental lab industry, founding Prodenco Group Inc., when he moved to Sioux City in 1952. Over his 38 years in Sioux City, he established additional dental labs in Grand Island and Omaha, Neb. He also served as a director on the board of Security National Bank for 17 years.

Sioux City is also where he met and married his wife of 55 years, Marilyn. They raised three children and made many enduring friendships. Since retiring to Fountain Hills in 1990, he made many new friends.

Dave most enjoyed his time with the Fountain Hills Men's Club and their back road trips, where he was able to refocus his hard-working nature on recruiting, serving and entertaining those in the club. His time in Fountain Hills also saw the arrival of nine grandchildren. Although a self-described pragmatist, critical thinker and worry wart, he lay firmly in the category of giver.

Dave is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Jeff (Carol) Watkins of Tulsa, Okla., Guy (Dee Dee) Watkins of Sioux City, and Doug (Shannon) Watkins of Omaha; grandchildren, Joe, Alex, Ben, Zach, Parker, Cooper, Olivia, Brady and Charlie; and his beloved pet, Kiera.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to Extend Hands Food Bank, 16548 E. Laser Dr. #6, Fountain Hills, AZ., 85268.
