Funeral Of W.A. Peoples Held Here

The funeral of W.A. Peoples, who died Wednesday, March 19, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska, was held here Saturday in the home of his sister, Mrs. Chas. W. Grawburg. The services were impressive and were conducted by Rev. John A. Campbell, of the Correctionville United Evangelical Church. The services were attended by all of the family of the deceased and a large number of friends. The flowers were beautiful. The remains were laid to rest in the Correctionville Cemetery.

W.A. Peoples was born August 5, 1862, at the time of the struggle between the north and south to settle the question of slavery. He died March 19, 1913, at the age of 51 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was a step-son of the late F. Meyers, a former business man of Correctionville, and a son of Mrs. Olive Meyers, a pioneer lady of Correctionville.

He is survived by a wife, one daughter, Mrs. A.M. Jenkins of Chicago and four sons, Edward Peoples of Wood, S.D., Frank Peoples of Herrick, S.D., Fred Peoples and William Peoples at home at Bonesteel, S.D. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sam Schnepps of Glidden, Iowa and Mrs. Chas. W. Grawburg of this place. All of the relatives were present at the funeral.

W.A. Peoples came to Correctionville many years ago and his children received their high school education from the local schools. He was, at the times of his resident here, a kind and generous man, and never refused help or aid to any person when asked.

He made many friends here and during his residence in Dakota always made visit here to see his mother, Mrs. Myers, and upon these visits was always extended the glad hand by his many friends. He was a man of large Stature and likewise had a large true heart. He was a loving husband and father as he leaves four popular big bright-eyed sons.

The Peoples family have many friends in Correctionville and they sincerely mingle their sorrow with that of the bereaved family in their loss of a loving husband and father.
