SERGEANT BLUFF | Roman H. Wieseler, 67, of Sergeant Bluff passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, from a 30-year battle with muscular dystrophy at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nativity, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Roman was born a twin on May 6, 1948, to Anton "Tony" and Laura (Kathol) Wieseler. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Emerson, Neb.

He was married to Linda Runkle in November of 1976. To this union, two children were born. Before he became disabled with his disease, Roman worked at Tyson Foods.

Although Roman was confined to a wheelchair, he enjoyed visiting with family and the residents and staff at Embassy Care Center.

He is survived by his son, Jonathon Wieseler of Iowa City, Iowa; daughter, Jennifer Stokes of Sioux City; two grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin (Kathy) Wieseler of Sioux City, and Roger (Pam) Wieseler of Florida; three sisters, Joan Kellen of Sioux City, Ruth (Gene) Larson of Marshall, Minn., and twin sister, Ramona (Kenneth Beaudette) Hilsinger of Walthill, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and three sisters
