SIOUX CITY | Robert Denny "Bob" Masteller, 75, formerly of Sioux City, died April 12, 2016, after a lingering illness. Bob was living in Bonsall, Calif., at the time of his death.

Per Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned.

Bob was born in Sioux City, on Aug. 26, 1941, to Clarence and Ruth (Leonard) Masteller. Bob attended local schools, graduating from Bishop Heelan High School in 1958.

Bob was united in marriage to Jeanette "Jan" Mae Baker of Wakefield, Neb. Jan passed away on Aug. 21, 2007. They lived in Sioux City before moving to Minot, N.D. and then to Broomfield, Colo. Bob was a self-employed businessman during his work life. He was respected and well liked by all. He had a great sense of humor and was helpful to everyone.

Bob was a veteran of the Iowa Air National Guard and served in Korea with the 185th Tactical Fighter Group from Sioux City.

During the 1960s, C&M Enterprises of Sioux City was the leading booking agency in western Iowa. The agency was created in the fall of 1959 by Dick Matousek. Bob Masteller joined shortly thereafter.

C&M not only focused on booking area bands, but also nationally known artists who came to the area. They functioned primarily in the Midwest but often reached east and west coasts including Canada. Those bands who strived to be somebody looked for representation by C&M. C&M was proud to book such outstanding groups as the Velaires, Tommy Bolin, A Patch of Blue, Burch Ray and the Walkers, Steve Ellis and the Starfires, The Jags and The Rockers, to name a few.

In 2000, Bob was inducted into the Iowa Rock n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame (IRRMA). For the Iowa rock music scene to flourish, C&M agency and founders, Dick Matousek and Bob Masteller worked very hard to make that happen.

Bob is survived by his son, Matt (Nicole) and their two children; daughter, Mindee (Mark) and their four children. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Carol Johnson of Miami, Fla.; brothers, Tom of Sioux City, and Neil (Linda) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Jan Masteller of Sioux City. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Phil; and brother-in-law, Norman Johnson.
