Stanley A Sherman , 81, longtime resident of Sioux City, IA passed away suddenly Saturday April 16, 2016 at his home in Fort Myers Fl.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Congregation Beth Shalom 815 38th St., Sioux City. Rabbi Guy Greene will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Sinai Cemetery followed by a meal of condolence back at Congregation Beth Shalom. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Stan was born May 9, 1934 in Sioux City; he was the son of Michael and Eleanor (Ackerman) Sherman.

Stan started his food business career working for his father Mike at Sherman Produce on Water St. Some years later he had a partnership with great friend Jack Harker on Highway 75. In 1988 he started Tur-Pak Foods and companies as a value-added food supplier to companies all around the country. He loved his work and cared deeply about the people who worked for him. When he retired in 2005 he and his wife Laney drove all over the country seeing the sights and spending time together along with their dog Duffy. He was a family man. A man of many stories, jokes, and endless love, Stan always touched everyone he met. An avid lover of life Stan enjoyed being with his family and friends and always enjoyed time on his boat.

Preceded in death by his daughter Debbie Sherman.

Survived by his wife Laney, his sons Marc Sherman and wife, Maria, Mike Sherman and wife Angela, Stan Sherman Jr and wife Amber; grandkids: Madison, Brennen, Lea, Wes, and Sadie; his sister: Evelyn Spilka.
