BROWN’S LAKE, IA | Tim Skidmore, 62, of Brown’s Lake died Saturday, April 9, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Salix United Methodist Church with Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Military honors and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Salix. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday), with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the church. The family requests Harley attire to be worn to both services. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Tim was born on Sept. 26, 1953 to Wayne and Delores (Gill) Skidmore. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1971. He was a Vietnam vet having served with the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1975.

Tim delivered mail for the USPS for 33 years. He was an active member of the NALC union and served as past secretary for the state of Iowa.

On August 3, 1973 he married his soulmate, Kathy Olson. They were together for 48 years. Tim and Kathy enjoyed many cross country Harley trips over the years.

Tim was a member of Salix United Methodist Church where he served as past Chairman of The Board.

Tim enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved spoiling them all year, but especially at Christmas. He loved being a grandpa and wore the title proudly. Anyone who knew Tim would describe him as one of the kindest, most loving and caring man they’d ever met.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; a son, Tim Skidmore and his wife, Deanna of Salix; a daughter, Mandy Franklin and her husband, Kareem of Des Moines, IA; his mother, Delores Skidmore of Onawa, IA; 2 sisters, Trina Beck and her husband, William of Onawa, IA and Pam Handke of Bronson, IA; 5 grandchildren; Kyle Skidmore and his girlfriend, Tyler, Obbreanna Skidmore, Abbie Skidmore and her boyfriend, Brady, Olivia Franklin and Kareem Franklin; 2 great-grandchildren, Amelia and Baby Bell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Shelly Petit, a brother-in-law, Burton Handke and his grandmother, Fern Godsey.

Pallbearers will be Barry Snyder, Jeff Case, William Beck, Kyle Skidmore, Rick Turkleson and Dick Braun. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren
