Vincent Diimig passed away on May 11, 2001, at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 20 days.

A vigil wake service was held Monday, May 14th, at Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton. The funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, May 15th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury with Rev. Mark Harrington and Rev. Edmund Tiedeman concelebrating.

Vincent Joseph Diimig was born August 21, 1910, near Danbury, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Gertrude (Smith) Diimig. The family farm that he was born on is the one he lived on and farmed until 1951 when he moved into Danbury with his mother. He continued to farm the farm until 1972. Vince then remained living in his home in Danbury until entering Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton in 1966 where he resided until his death on May 11, 2001.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury.

Survivors include two brothers and their wives, Bob and Teresa Diimig of Danbury, Iowa and Paul and Shirley Diimig of Kimberling City, Missouri; two sisters and their husbands, Sally and Paul Dinges of Odebolt, Iowa and Frances and Hans VanWaart of Sioux City, Iowa and one sister-in-law Esther Diimig of Omaha, Nebraska, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Loretta C. Hanson and her husband, Raymond, Marie Diimig and Wilma Diimig, four brothers, Al and his wife, Fern Diimig, Raymond, Larry and Leo.
