Funeral Set for Sioux City Crash Victim

Funeral services for Leonard J. Maron, 23, 1515 Grandview Blvd., will be at 1:30 Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Lothar Braeunig will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Heaton-Wescott Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Larry Tucker, Orville Dye, Gary Murkins, James Krause, Bryan Maron and Donald Vogt.

Mr. Maron died Saturday night at a Platte, S.D. hospital of injuries suffered earlier in a one car accident four miles north of Geddes, S.D. on South Dakota 50.

The vehicle that Maron was driving rolled over three times and he was thrown from the vehicle, Charles Mix County Sheriff Frank McCabe said Maron was enroute to Rapid City, S.D. and was alone when the accident occurred, he added. Patrolman Myron Beskow of Lake Andes, S.D. assisted in the investigation.

Mr. Maron was employed by the Temptrol Corp. He was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1964, after serving a four year tour of duty as a demolitions technician. He was a 1960 graduate of East High School and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He was born May 24, 1942 in Sioux City. He married Colleen Vogt on June 12, 1965, in Sioux City.

Survivors include the widow; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Maron, a sister, Mrs. Thomas Ingraham, and a brother, Arthur, all of Rapid City; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Maron and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elsie Washburn, all of Sioux City.
