John Wise, 84, a former Sioux City resident, died Saturday at an Eugene, Ore., nursing home after a year’s illness.

Mr. Wise was employed by the Sioux City Seed Co. in Sioux City for 27 years. He later managed the Nebraska Seed Co. in Sioux City and in Omaha before retiring in 1940 and moving to Eugene.

He was born March 25, 1882, in Mitchell Country, Iowa. He married Nellie Winn at Havelock, Iowa, in 1903.

Survivors include the widow, and a son, Gordon of Eugene.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at an Eugene Funeral home. Masonic rites were conducted.
