18 August 2004Charlotte (Burg) Akeson, 76, formerly of Sioux City died in Mercer Island, Wash. following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Charlotte, called "Chang" by family and friends during her younger years, was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of C. Albert Burg and Gwendolyn (Mottram) Burg. She attended Sioux City Public School and graduated from Leeds High School in 1945. She married Wayne Akeson in 1951.
After raising her family, while residing in Illinois, North Carolina, Nebraska and Washington, she attended and graduated with honors in business from Bellevue Community College in Bellevue, Wash. Following this, she had a long and successful career with Seattle First National Bank, where she managed several branches.
Survivors include four children, Jeff Akeson and his wife, Beth of Peoria, Ill., Mark Akeson and his wife, Lisa of Santa Cruz, Calif., Cheri Corneil and her husband, Phil of Redmond, Wash., and Greg Akeson of Mercer Island, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Jeff, David, Tyler, Eric, Todd, Scott, Graham and Stuart; a brother, George Burg and his wife, Myrna of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Burg of Sioux City; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Albert Burg.
Charlotte was a very loving and devoted mother, sister and friend. All those whose lives she touched will truly miss her.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in her name to the American Heart Association or the Siouxland Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association
