Paul A. Samson, 72, of Sioux City died Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. David Liewer, pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City, officiating. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated.

Mr. Samson was born June 30, 1927, in Somerville, Mass. He married Edna G. Langley on July 1, 1951, in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II after World War II.

After World War II, he moved to Sioux City from Bostom. He was a truck driver for many years. In the early 1970’s, he became a bus driver for the Sioux City School District. He retired about 1985. He was Catholic. He enjoyed auto races and boxing.

Surviving include one son, John Samson of Mitchell, S.D., seven daughters, Linda Hummel and her husband, Larry, of Sioux City, Karen Rohde of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Kathy White and her husband, John, of Sioux City, Pauline Deiterman of Council Bluffs, Elizabeth VanBeek, Maureen Nuno and Barbara Samson, all of South Sioux City; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
