20 August 1999George W. Sauve, 77, of Grane Rapids, Mich., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, August 15, 1999 at Clark Retirement Community at Grand Rapids.
Graveside services will be Saturday in Oaklawn Cemetery, Crescar, Iowa. Memorial services will be here in Sioux City at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.
Mr. Sauve was born July 12, 192? in Elwood, Iowa. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army with 471 1st Quartermaster Battalion during World War II. His unit went ashore at Normandy on D-Day plus seven through Paris, to the Battle of the Bulge and to Berlin in May 1945.
He graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., in 1951 an received his master’s degree from Emporia State University at Emporia, Kansas in 1964.
He was employed as a school psychologist at Howard Winneshiek School District in Cresco from 196? to 1968. He moved to Sioux City in 1968, where he was employed as school psychologist with AE District 12 from 1968 until retirement. He moved to Grand Rapids 1995.
He was a member of the mason Sigma Delta Chi, Lions Club and Association of Retarded Children.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Melinda and Phill McCabe of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren, Colin and Megan McCabe; a brother and his wife, Jim and Alma Sauve of Portland, Ore and two brothers-in-law, Ted Wildeand his wife, Mary of Culver, Ind.
