SIOUX CITY | Charles LaVerne "Chuck" Keleher, 78, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at his residence, with his family present.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United States Navy. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Charles LaVerne Keleher was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Edward "Ted" and Mabel (Davis) Keleher. He attended Danbury Catholic Schools. Charles joined the United States Navy on Jan. 1, 1954, and served on the USS Pine Island as a boiler tender until his honorable discharge on Oct. 1, 1957.

He married Carolyn B. Groendyk on Nov. 5, 1957. Mr. Keleher was employed at Jolly Time Popcorn, Container Corporation, Armours, Swifts and Raskins. As a master craftsman cement finisher, Charles worked for Klinger, Holtze, Holman and L&L Construction Co.

He was a member of the Carpenters of America Local 948 and the V.F.W. Charles had interests in fishing, C.B. radio where he was known as "Prospector," morning coffee with friends at McDonalds in South Sioux City, and NASCAR with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhart Jr.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Charles L. Keleher Jr., and Clayton M. Keleher and his wife, Kim; daughter, Carla King and her husband, Ray; sister, Beverly Salvatori; grandsons, Charles L. Keleher and wife, Sarah, Michael D. Keleher and his wife, Tracy, Clayton M. Keleher Jr. and Michael Clarkson; granddaughters, Aimee Zolin Casco, Jamie Zolin (Chris Mahaney), Courtney Keleher, Dallas Keleher and Natalie Keleher; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Casey, Bailee, William, Tommy, Johnny, Charley, Sophia and Gwenna; sisters-in-law, Dorine Keleher, LaVonne Keleher, Marilla Keleher, Lois Leinan, Mary Ann Naeve and her husband, Dennis, and Elizabeth Windes and her husband, Jim; brother-in-law, Edwin Groendyk and his wife, Jane; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward Keleher, Ronald Keleher, Donald Keleher, Joe Keleher, Wilbur Keleher and Paul Keleher; sister, Nancy Gussie; and special friend, Angel Keleher
