21 December 2000Juleanne Ada Swanson, 66, of Ames, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Lehigh, Iowa, with the Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton, Iowa.
Mrs. Swanson was born April 11, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of Van W. and Ada (Pfieifer) Hammerstrom. She graduated from Central High School in 1952. She attended the University of Iowa.
She married Richard D. Swanson on Nov. 12, 1955, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Waterloo, Iowa, then to Des Moines, before moving to Lehigh in 1964.
She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and Lehigh United Methodist Church, where she served in the church board an was financial secretary. She volunteered in the gift shop at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Steve and Suzi of Carmel, Ind.; a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Wade Weiss of Jefferson, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Nicole and Shelby Swanson and Adam, Neil and Jacob Weiss; and a sister and her husband, Marilyn and Duane Oleson of Sun City West, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
