Leona C. Berg, 89, of Des Moines, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2000, in Des Moines.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Ch-urch in Sioux City, with the Rev. David Fechner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mrs. Berg was born Aug. 20, 1911, in Hubbard, Neb., the daughter of George H. and Anne (Flieder) Ogburn. She was raised in Hubbard and graduated from Homer (Neb.) High School.

She married Kenneth Berg on Dec. 13, 1932, in South Sioux City. The couple lived in South Sioux City until moving to Sioux City in 1942. She was employed with Montgomery Wards for 10 years, retiring in 1975. Her husband died Dec. 3, 1990, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served as a former president of Faith, Hope and Charity Circle.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert and Lolly of Wichita, Kan.; two daughters, Catherine and her husband, Maynard Dirks of Woodward, Iowa, and Donna Wilde of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, four grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers will be Jim, Steve and Al Dirks, Brent Berg, Phil Roe and Jim Corzine
