27 December 2000Lucille E. Strong, 87, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Doug West of Church of the Nazarene in Climbing Hill, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill. Visitation will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Strong was born Jan. 31, 1913, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrich Alfred and Eva (Pealeman) Deppe. She was raised in Sioux City.
She married Merrill R. Strong on June 23, 1932, in Inwood, Iowa. The couple lived in Bronson, Iowa, for many years and then returned to Sioux City. She was a homemaker. Her husband died Dec. 13, 1985, in Sioux City.
She was a member of Climbing Hill Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed oil painting and cooking.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Rolland and Delores of Sioux City; two grandsons, Randy and Mark Strong; and four great-grandchildren.
