31 December 2000Lucille B. 'Lucy' Graves, 83, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at a Sioux City retirement home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Private burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in rural Homer, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Graves was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Jackson, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Edith (Bierman) Sundt. She attended Hubbard Public Schools. She moved to Sioux City in 1955. She was a cook at Jackson Public School, worked at Ye Old Tavern for 16 years and later at Sioux Thrifty Drug for 15 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include a sister, Evelyn Rawling of South Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Graves of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Dan, Tim, John, Bill and Mike Graves, Jill Rodman, Jane Davenport, and Amy Mace; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Graves; a son, Douglas; three brothers, Maynard, Buster and Elmer; and a sister, Alba.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Dan, Tim, Bill, John and Mike Graves, Jill Rodman, Jane Davenport and Amy Mace.
Memorials in her name may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland and the Alzheimer's Association
