Robert Samuel Pemberton, 69, of Sioux City, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Allen D. Call of First United Methodist Church officiating. There will be a flag presentation at the conclusion of the service by American Legion Monahan Post 64. The body was cremated. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service.

Mr. Pemberton was born June 5, 1930, in Anderson City, Ill., the son of Odin Lee and Gertrude Pemberton. He grew up in Illinois.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was employed with Interstate Bakery in Denver, Colo.

He came to Sioux City during the early 1970s and worked for Metz Baking Co. in South Sioux City for about 22 years, retiring in 1994.

He married Dorothy J. Larson on Nov. 17, 1980 in Sioux City.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lee Pemberton of California and Raymond Andrew Larson of McCook Lake, S.D.; three daughters, Laura Hunter and her husband, John, of Mesa, Ariz., Cindy "Sammee" Schnee and her husband, Rob, of Sioux City and Brenda Lee Schiefen and her husband, Dennis, of Phoenix; three sisters, Fern Ann Liptrap of Peru, Ind., Betty Lou Sanders of Mount Carmel, Ill., and Sue Bixford of Juneau, Alaska; and three grandchildren, Robbie Schnee, Amanda Powell and Mindie Schiefen.

He was preceded in death by his parents
