11 March 1999Dale C. Taylor, 87, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Rasmussen of Sioux City Foursquare Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Eakly, Okla., the son of Alfred Lynn and Margaret May (Archer) Taylor. He was a long-time resident of Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army.
He married Verna Wetzbarger. He later married Regina Risse on May 1, 1948. She died in December 1977, in Sioux City. He then married Josephine Warren in 1981.
He was employed as a maintanence worker in the water department with the City of Sioux City for 24 years.
He was a member of the Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Don Sonntag of Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Ella Taylor of Sioux City; a brother, Russell of Yankton, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Suckstorf of McCook, S.D.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alfred Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Rick Knutson, Alfred Taylor, Bob, Ron and Randy Thompson and Jerry Myers.
