7 January 1999Dave Baker, 82, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at Haevest Westside Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Arnold Herbst of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Newcastle City Cemetery, Newcastle, Neb. Visitation will be noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Baker was born April 5, 1916, in Sioux City, the son of Louis L. and Ida (Nakmanovich) Baker. He graduated from Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the European Theater.
He married Darrell Mae Baker on June 20, 1941, in Newcastle. She died Feb. 6, 1998, in Sioux City. He was the owner and operator of Baker's Paint and Hardware Store for many years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling.
Survivors include a brother and his wife, Sam and Marion Baker of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dan.
