YANKTON, S.D. - Mildred M. Vavra, 73, of Yankton died Saturday in Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. O.K. Anderson officiating at Ray-Lane Funeral Chapel, Yankton. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Vavra was born May 22, 1925, in Woodbury County, Iowa to Laurits and Minnie (Knudsen) Klemmensen. She was raised in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek High School. She married Harry Hansen in 1946. They lived in Sioux City. He died in 1959. She married Robert Vavra on July 6, 1963, in Yankton. The couple farmed north of Yankton. She also worked at M-Tron Industries for 15 years. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dean and his wife, Terry Hansen of Sugar Land, Texas and Dennis Hansen of Yankton; a stepson and his wife, Tom and Kris Vavra of Mustang, Okla.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Mona and Dale Meyer of Yankton and Carol and Joe J. Reifenrath of LaVista, Neb.; and six step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

A memorial has been established with the South Dakota Lung Association
