Esther Munson, 94, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Pinkerton of Viborg, S.D., Church of Nazerene officiating. Burial will be in Maskell Cemetery, Maskell, Neb. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Munson was born April 2, 1905, in Irene, S.D., the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Peterson) Anderson. She was raised in the Irene area.

She married Harold Munson in 1930, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple lived in Maskell until moving to Sioux City in 1959. She was employed as a seamstress for J.C. Penney until retiring. He died Oct. 23, 1972, in Sioux City.

Survivors include a son and his wife, James and Rose of Sioux City; two daughters, Marilyn Nelsen of Viborg and Sharon and her husband, Tom Johnson of Sioux City; a sister, Gladys Hanson of Nampa, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Violet; two other sisters, two brothers, a son-in-law, Donald Nelsen; and a great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Jerry, Scott and Chad Nelsen, James Munson Jr., Roger Nelson and Tommy Johnson.
