SIOUX CITY | James L. Martin, 67, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Tim Reickhoff-Faris officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. Jim was born in Sergeant Bluff on June 1, 1947, the son of Carl and Betty (Clayton) Martin. He attended Sergeant Bluff schools, graduating with the class of 1966. He then attended Morningside College, where he graduated with the class of 1971.

He was united in marriage with Mary Mack on June 10, 1972, at First United Methodist Church in Independence, Iowa. Jim formerly worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Sioux Tools, and Gateway 2000. He was most recently employed at Wal-Mart on Singing Hills Blvd. until his health failed and he was no longer able to work.

Jim was a member of Community United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader, who enjoyed reading military history especially. He also enjoyed collecting rocks.

Jim's life will always be remembered and cherished by his survivors who include his mother, Betty Martin of Sergeant Bluff; his wife, Mary of Fountain, Colo.; his sons, SFC Owen D. Martin and his wife, Sarah of Fountain, Colo., Nicholas J. Martin of Sergeant Bluff, and Michael T. Dalton-Martin and his wife, Ruby of Omaha; his sister, Karen K. Lindberg and her husband, Rick of Sergeant Bluff; a brother, Ronald L. Martin and his wife, Cheryl of Waverly, Iowa; and his grandson, Kurt.

He was preceded in death by his father.
