Nicholas Thomas Sr., 92, of Falmouth, Maine, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at a local health care facility.

Services will be 5 p.m. Friday at Conroy Tully Crawford Funeral Home in Portland, Maine, with the Rev. Desi Larson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.ctcrawford.com.

Nicholas Thomas was born April 15, 1915, in Sioux City, the son of Ignato and Xenia (Davidchik) Timoshea. He was educated at Sioux City schools. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.

He married Della Pecewicz in 1947. He was employed with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a car repairman, retiring in 1977. In 1999, the couple moved to Maine.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Sioux City. He enjoyed golf, bowling, carpentry and masonry. He also possessed a good singing voice and loved many kinds of music.

Survivors include two daughters, Candice Thomas of Scarborough, Maine, and Janice Thomas of Peaks Island, Maine; a son and his wife, Nicholas and Barbara Thomas Jr. of Denver, Colo.; two granddaughters, Anna Mae McInerney of Portland, Maine, and Katherine McInerney of Boston.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three sisters, Olga Schmidt, Nettie Mironchik and Ann Cullen; and two brothers, Alex and Bill Thomas.
