Elva Jean "Boots" Eilers, 80, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center from complications of a fall.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Crum officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Elva was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Hornick, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Floyd and Jennie Mae (Porter) Lowther. She was a longtime Sioux City resident.

She married Laverne W. Eilers on Feb. 9, 1947, in Sioux City. He died Sept. 4, 2003, in Sioux City. She was employed at the Biltmore Hotel and Restaurant for 23 years as a bookkeeper, hostess and waitress.

She was a member of Morningside Assembly of God Church. In past years, she enjoyed bridge, cribbage, square dancing and gardening.

Survivors include four children and spouses, Don and Georgia Eilers of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Stanley and Cora Eilers of Sioux City, Randy and Lori Eilers of Des Moines and Pam and Jeff Linn of Lake Mary, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and spouses, Chad and Jeannine Eilers, Brad and Julie Eilers, Amanda and Jay Porter, Seth Eilers, Richie Eilers, Thomas Eilers, Austin Eilers, Micaela Eilers, Keaton Eilers, Alyssa and Brandon Webb and Caleb and Jenna Linn; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Luella Lowther of Missouri; a brothers-in-law and his wife, Donald and Anne Eilers of White Rock, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Gary Lee Eilers; two brothers, Frank Admire and Earl Lowther; and a sister, Ella Schulz.

Pallbearers will be Joe Stephens, John Stephens, David Greene, Joel Hinze, Les Hinze and Al Lindahl. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Linn, Keaton Eilers, Brad Eilers, Chad Eilers and Seth Eilers.

Elva's family would like to convey their thanks to Hospice of Siouxland and the nurses at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Hospice Unit.
