Carol J. Norton, 68, of Sioux City died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, in Sioux City.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, where the Rev. Craig Bock of Morningside Lutheran Church officiated.

Mrs. Norton was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Linn Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Hiram Royal and Agnes Laurine (Fonley) Hanson. She attended Linn Grove Consolidated Schools. She moved to Sioux City in 1951.

In 1951, she worked for Northwestern Bell as an operator and billing agent for six years. She worked for Livestock National Bank, Northwest Bank and First National Bank, all in Sioux City. She also worked for the Bank of America in Las Vegas, Nev., First Interstate Bank in Fort Collins, Colo., and the State Farm Insurance Co. in Denver, Colo., before moving back to Sioux City in 1995.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, WIGS and Esther Circle.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Julie and Douglas Brommer of Fort Collins, Colo.; four brothers and their wives, Robert and Susan Hanson of Sioux City, James and Virginia Hanson of Northwood, Iowa, John and Gayle Hanson of Fresno, Calif., and Harold and April Hanson of Sioux City; two sisters, Rachael and her husband, Charles Storm of Sioux City, and Donna Benson of Parker, Colo.; two grandchildren, Jasmyn and Joshua Brommer; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kyle Brommer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janet Angert.

Memorials may be directed to Morningside Lutheran Church.
