SIOUX CITY | John William Jacobs, 46, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, from complications from seizures at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. John was born on Jan. 27, 1968, in Hawarden, Iowa, to Emil and Henrietta (Schelling) Jacobs. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1987 and graduated with honors from WITT in golf course management.

He was employed with Gerkin Windows and Siding until his health prohibited him from working. John was married to Shelly Neri on June 15, 2002, in Sioux City.

John was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Sioux City Bandits. He was a licensed referee officiating football, softball and basketball. He was an avid Chiefs fan and loved spending time with his granddaughters.

John was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Siouxland Officials.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly Jacobs of Sioux City; stepdaughters, Amanda Tibbetts and Brittany Salvatori; granddaughters, Samantha Tibbetts and Leah Hanson; sisters, Janet (Clifford) Sorum and Judith Jacobs; a brother, James (Jennifer) Jacobs; father- and mother in-law, Phillip F. (Anita) Neri;and brother and sisters-in-law, Phillip R. (Diane) Neri, Teresa (Kraig) Feste, Brenda (Joe) Parkhill, Gina Neri and fiancé, David Bonthus.

John was a kind and giving person which he demonstrated within his final hours of his life. John chose to donate his organs so others could enjoy life.
