SIOUX CITY | Aaliya Wabasha Thomas, "Tate topa etunwan najin win", 16-month-old daughter of Antonio Grant Wabasha and Amorita Thomas of Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at her home.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Oyanke Community Center in Santee, Neb. Aaliya will be taken to Santee on Saturday. Visitation will resume Saturday, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and will continue until service time Monday, at the community center. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Aaliya was born on May 11, 2013, in Sioux City, the daughter of Antonio Grant Wabasha and Amorita Thomas. Her favorite movie was Monsters University. Aaliya was a happy outgoing girl, who was always smiling. She enjoyed being around people, eating and dancing.

Aaliya is survived by her parents, Antonio and Amorita of Sioux City; a brother, Andres Wabasha Thomas and another brother on the way; maternal grandparents, Angela Thomas of Santee, and Landon Hoffman of Flaundreau, S.D.; paternal grandparents, Terri Grant of Santee, and Jose Ruiz of Sioux City; maternal great-grandparents, Clarence Thomas of Springfield, S.D., Mercedes "Sammy" Denney of Santee, Alice Hoffman of Flandreau, and Pat Wright of Niobrara, Neb.; paternal great-grandparents, Brenda Wabasha of Santee, Rick Grant of Montezuma, Utah, Delia Ruiz of Sioux City, and Javier Ruiz of Mexico; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Aaliya was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Weston Grant; maternal great-great-grandparents, Raymond Thomas Jr. and Dorothy Thomas; paternal great-great-grandparents, Minerva Grant, Maxine Wabasha, William Wabasha and Patrick Wabasha; and a cousin, Destiny Thomas.
