SIOUX CITY | Allen Graves, 62, of Sioux City died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014.

At Allen's request, the body will be cremated. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, 822 Jennings St., in Sioux City. Visitation will be noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation, food and refreshments will be served at Buffalo Alice, 1022 4th St., in Sioux City following the service.

Allen was born on July 4, 1952, one of four children of Melvin and Christine "Dixie" Graves. He attended Central High School and then worked as a professional painter, working all over Siouxland. He enjoyed his work and was very much the perfectionist. He was tremendously kind hearted and would often charge people much less or little to nothing if they could not otherwise afford it.

He was intelligent, quick witted and hilarious, often making people laugh at themselves. Allen's friends and family could always count on him for interesting, lively conversation and lots of laughs. He will be missed by so many.

Survivors include his son, Adam Brubaker; his aunts, Barb Audus, Evelyn, Alexis, Donna Doohen, and May Graves, all of Sioux City; his uncle, David Doohen and his wife, Linda of California; an uncle, Tim Doohen of Sioux City; his very dear and close friends, Gary and Steve Massey of Sioux City, and Nancy Jo Welch of Lincoln, Neb.; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixie and Melvin Graves; his brothers, Melvin and Jimmy Graves; and his sister, Gail White
